For example, if a candidate is applying under skilled labor class, direct 60 points are awarded in such a case. Then, the age of the applicant also plays a major role as different points are awarded in different age slabs:

  • 25-32 yrs- 30 points
  • 33-39 yrs- 25 points
  • 40-44 yrs- 14 points
  • 45-49 yrs-   0 points

A candidate needs to have cleared IELTS exam in order to apply as skilled labor. Then, for an IELTS score of 8 or above, candidate gets 20 points, for score of 7, 10 points and for 6, the points are 0.
Australia also awards points for educational qualifications and work experience.

 For those candidates who fall in the category of skilled labor but are not sponsored, Australian Immigration policies have an upside. The Skilled Independent Subclass 189 visa is specially designed for those candidates who are skilled but have not been sponsored by a state or territory, employer or a family member. This visa will allow such skilled-independent candidates to live and work permanently anywhere in Australia. On top of this, candidate can also include eligible family members in the application. Apex Visas lauds this as an option which would offer the candidates a permanent visa and allows one to remain in Australia indefinitely and enjoy all the working rights.

To apply under this subclass, one needs to submit an Expression of Interest. The biggest catch in this type of visa is that the applications are by invitation only. Now in order to be invited, a candidate must submit an Expression of Interest and have an occupation that is relevant to the skilled occupation list (SOL). Along with this, one needs to have within the age group of 18-50 years and meet the necessary English language requirements.

Express entry is an electronic application management system that aims to facilitate and expedite efficient processing of Canada’s various immigration programs.  Express Entry allows a candidate to apply for immigration through various means. One of those means is Provincial Nomination Program. Under PNP (Provincial Nomination Program), a province can nominate a candidate who is interested in migrating to Canada and settling in a particular province and is a part of the Express Entry Pool. Each province has its own nomination program which helps a great deal in expediting the permanent residency for an applicant.
Quite recently, various new provinces have been added to PNP including Saskatchewan. The provinces have their own criteria for picking the applicants.
